Further developments

As the black boxes were handed over to the Malaysian authorities last night (With any incriminating evidence already erased no doubt). Violence erupted around the east of Ukraine. After yesterdays heavy shelling of Donetsk, which has now been confirmed as being committed by a rogue division of Ukrainian soldiers, it looks like control in both sides is becoming an issue.

There has also been the first unsubstantiated report of a suicide bombing by rebels in the Donetsk region along with heavy shelling from the sea further north in Luhansk Oblast. These acts show the desperation the rebels are now feeling and could antagonize an already volatile situation.

The sanctions issued by Europe and the US on Russia are a step in the right direction but this conflict needs to be resolved now. The situation needs to be controlled before it descends into anarchy with roving gangs of armed men randomly firing at each other, Kiev needs to take control of the situation here and re establish order among it's ranks before more civilians die.

In other news the Americans have confirmed that there are obvious signs of a missile strike on the fuselage of the downed plane. Not that any confirmation was needed. We managed to establish contract with our translator which is a relief, but he is reticent to go into Donetsk due to the danger so we are trying to find another translator so we can go into Donetsk as soon as possible.
