Donetsk offensive

After regrouping for a couple of days, today a full blown battle has broken out in the neighboring town of Donetsk. Ukrainian government sources initially said that the security forces attacking rebel positions were volunteers not under government control but they are now stating that it is a 'major offensive against the rebels'. It is pandemonium and a truly stunning example of bureaucratic incompetence

Whatever the story is, both sides are firing indiscriminately. With the rebels basing their offensive from the train station. Our translator was passing through Donetsk by train and we can now not contact him, this is a concern. We will try to get to Donetsk tomorrow as no one is sure what is happening today and we do not want to be blown to pieces by an errant shell.
