Frustration

More fighting, the Ukrainian security forces claim to have taken 10 towns since yesterday but seem to be struggling to get anywhere near Donetsk, where fighting still rages.

As it was a nice day yesterday and we have nothing to do, we went to the beach to see if we could interview some people about the current events in Donetsk. It wasn't long before we met Artyom a marketing executive from Colgate whose sole responsibility seemed to be hanging around at the beach and watching volleyball.

He was quite cocky and confident,it was not long before he got a call from a friend in the army who said that attack on Mariupol was imminent, this immediately lowered the mood between him and his friends as they discussed the implications if Mariupol was invaded.

We had a few drinks on the beach and chatted about how the situation has affected them. Artyom became quite emotional as he was going to be drafted and feared for his future, he wants to leave but he won't leave his family here. It was quite a tragic story of the human impact this conflict is having, despite all his brag and bravado he was just a young man who fears for the future of his family.

We are still trying to get access to Donetsk, every time we think we've made progress something happens to block our way. Hopefully our persistence will pay off, safety for us and our translator is the most important thing and this means planning.

The documentary we are making here is entirely self funded so if anyone could spare a bit of money to help support it or if you would like to sponsor the film, you can donate on our site http://jtecproductions.moonfruit.com/

Thank you
